Sallay Goba, Bo, Sierra Leone, 1996

Sallay had had both hands amputated by one of the rebel groups in Sierra Leone’s civil war. Unlike many amputees, she had survived, and was living in an amputees’camp in the regional capital Bo.

She was able to weave, using a biro and a piece of wood.
